So, finally... here it is! The Final and Last Part of Split Fic... Proper name: The Difference Between Now and Then. And thank you so much for putting up with my slowness with this. It feels like I've been working on this epic monstrosity FOREVER, I mean seriously, I started it in October 2006! it's been years!!! And over 125,000 words later, here is the end... To be honest, I don't know how I'll cope now this fic is no longer a part of my life ;-)

Okay, so to increase my usual negible number of postings prior to the Big LJ Blackout Strike, as suggested by the lovely and wise seanmegansean, I am posting the original fic that inspired the mini ficlet I posted at t'weekend with Vain!Airhead!Prettyboy!Gus (who I love).

This was originally written for the Xmas gift exchange and is still over at qaf_giftxchnge It was written for the truly fabulosa sexy_pumpkin and in my summary at the time is "a future fic where Gus is getting married, leading Brian to contemplate his own relationship with Justin & attitude towards marriage..."  Okay, so I've been away for ages... again.  But!  I now have fic, though sadly not the last part of the seemingly epic Now & Then aka Split!Fic.  It seems I am officially stuck on the last chapter.  I have the last section and the first section of the chapter, it's just the annoying bit in between that's causing the problem... argh!  So, to try and dig myself out of this hole I wrote something else... In under 15 minutes.... So... it's short!!!!  For once, I managed to write something that wasn't essay length.  I am very pleased with myself.

It's set in this future!world I wrote for a holiday exchange fic for sexy_pumpkin  as part of the last qaf_giftxchnge  where 20 year old Gus gets married to a girl called Buffy(!) (against Brian's advice) leading to much Re-evaluation of Feelings and Realisation of What They Mean to Each Other between our favourite boys...   Anyway, in the story Gus was a bit of a vain!airhead!pretty!boy and because that version of Gus amused me so much I wrote more about it. 

Apologies for being away so long. I cannot believe that I last posted this in November - I am embarrassed! Anyway, for those of you who are still reading (and I'd be surprised if there were any after so long!) here is part 2 of the final part. Also known as: Chapter 23b. #

I was going to post about my last week which basically involved me blathering on in a very boring way about decorating (yes I have been decorating all last week with my Mum's assistance in an effort to sell my flat) but really, who wants to know about that? Okay, so I know I've been away for forever and I'm really sorry... real life has just been awful and work has been annoyingly busy, so no sneaky fic-working or even fic-reading (dammnit!) time.

I'm sort of cheating here, because I've been working on the last chapter of Split fic for ages now and it refuses to finish itself, so I'm posting a final chapter - part A thing. This is why it may read as being half-finished - because it's not finished yet. This chapter will definitely have a Part B, and quite probably a Part C, but then it will really and truly be done. Promise.

I'm still not entirely happy with this part but I'm going to post anyway because I haven't posted this in ages and if I don't do it now then it'll never get done!

My internet was down again! Happily, it has now returned and I can weep with relief over my poor devastated keyboard (sadly I had been taking my anger out on it during my incessant rage at the useless fuckwits at Virgin Media).

The final part of SplitFic seems to be taking longer than I anticipated. Huh. This is mainly because I am simultaneously writing my fic for the Justin challenge over at QAF - Challenges but also because I have no willpower and am constantly distracted by shiny things.

The latest shiny thing to distract me from important fic writing and housework is an Angel marathon T'Other Half and me are currently galloping through. We managed 6 episodes back to back on Saturday. Of course, I've seen it all before (too many times to think about) but it's such fun to experience it with him. We are currently about half-way through season 2 and I am desperate to get to the episodes when Conor!!!! turns up. Ahhh, I loved him so, poor damaged, bizarrely hot, slightly creepy, far-too-young-for-me, angst-ridden boy. Still Season 2.... possibly the slashiest season on Angel? But then Season 5 has the Spangel... Hmm, t'is a topic ripe for debate methinks.

Hopefully, stupid internet will be back for good now and I hope so as I'm sure I keep missing out on cool f-list stuff like this touched by genuis ficlet from_kiden It is fabulous. Go read!

The end is most definitely nigh... This is the penultimate chapter. It was going to be the last, but it grew somewhat and instead of doing a Chapter 22 Part A / Part B thing, I've just decided to go with two chapters (well, it made sense in my head!). The Final Most Definitely (Well Very Probably) Final chapter will be posted soon when I'm done polishing and being a desperate big nerd about it.

Although this is the end of this fic, I'm definitely considering some way of continuing with this universe. I've got pathetically attached to this universe of Brian & Justin - they've kept me sane when so much nasty shit has been going on in real life, I imagine a lot of people in this fandom can empathise with this kind of thing... :(

Oh, I did something slightly different with this one - the "Then" part comes first...

Last night the spacebar on my home laptop stopped working.  It is the second key to die, the first was my up cursor key who I have managed to cope without so far..   But the spacebar?  It's kinda important.  Why couldn't it have been another key I barely use like scroll lock?  I still have zero idea what that does.

Anyway, I am now left with half-finished fic and a choice between either writingeverythingstreamofconsciousstyleandhopeallcanreadit  or trying to work on it during sneaky, quieter times at work, not that we're having any at the moment - whatever happened to August being offical skive off work month?  I guess that went the same way the British summer did :(

I think there is only one choice here.  Which means that I'm going to be even slower than ever in my next postings... 

Okay, so I was totally going to post this last night but then my sister called re her upcoming wedding to beg (okay,ask) me to put together a mix CD for the reception, apparently the wedding singer (who comes with the venue) has a very limited "range" and half the stuff she wants him to sing is out of his range, he also sings with a really strong Hull accent (hmmm, trying to think of a famous person with a Hull accent for the benefit of non-UK people - ah! a bit like Sean Bean's real voice - not quite Hull, but Yorkshire, so not far off). So after that conversation that was it for the rest of the evening. Of course there are certain wedding standards that have to be included... thank you Dexys Midnight Runners.

Sadly she was very keen to impress on me that this is a "family" occasion, so I wasn't allowed to include any of that "gay dance stuff you like" because it's "too dirty." Pah! I was so looking forward to getting my parents dancing to Fuck Me Harder. Boo.

( Chapter 19 )

Today has been a shitty day. My mum called me this morning to tell me that my Uncle had died last night, cancer again. Only two weeks after my sister-in-law. At least, his was expected and he'd been ill for a long time. My other half of course says he won't go to the funeral as it's too soon after his sister, and who can blame him? The poor darling has been having bad dreams about it all recently so I'm really worried about him. I don't really know what to say to make it better for him as being a man he won't talk about it... I guess you just don't get over loosing your sister at 27.

And if that wasn't enough, the fucking hot water's gone in our building and the caretaker says it won't be back until Monday. The whole bloody weekend! Just been out to my best mate's house for a shower (she and her other half are at Glastonbury this weekend) and managed to get drenched by the torrential rain on the way back, I guess I'm just pleased I'm not at Glastonbury myself, no band is worth that much mud.

So, I've spent the rest of the day holed up at home finishing the next chapter of split fic, it's about the only thing that's keeping me sane at the moment. Hope you all enjoy and forgive me the venting above...

So, as part of qaf_giftxchnge I wrote fic for the lovely ellyrianna who I love and whose fic I adore! She requested something explaining Justin's actions and feelings around the Pink Posse arc and I wrote this.... Basically, a loooonnnnnggg conversation between Brian and Justin with a non-written porny interlude (non-written because I suck at writing porn). And she liked it... so I rest happy.

Anyway, just thought I'd post it here in the interest of completeness and all that. Just have to say that this was a challenge to write, mainly because I wasn't sure myself of Justin's actions and feelings around that time as it was never really shown on the show, but neatly glossed over between 405 - 406, something I know a lot of people found frustrating. This is also my first real gapfiller, and I have to say that it's hard to do... I think I might just stick to AU's or post 513 stuff in future.

Just got back to the UK yesterday from my wonderful, fabulous holiday!  Just wanted to do a quick post to say thanks to everyone who left me lovely kind birthday messages on their journals, I am really touched by all your kind words and I will definitely be responding.

Unfortunately when I logged on last night my home modem started doing this scary smoking thing so until the lovely people from Virgin send me a replacement I only have internet access from work and even more unfortunately I have over 200 messages in my work inbox to deal with before then :-(
